Chick-a-Fila Helps Finds Runaway Teen

There's a thousand reasons that you should love Chic-fil-A, if not for their delicious chicken, awe inspiring waffle fries, fresh squeezed lemonade, homemade ice cream and who can forget those savory sauces, it should be for their always friendly always fast customer service.
Chick-fil-A Restaurant (eater.com)
Chick-fil-A is an establishment that I applaud on so many levels, not only for their food but because they are founded on wholesome values, that are uncanny for a fast food chain; flowers on every table, scholarships for all their employees and closed on Sunday so that people can spend time with their families. I could go on and on about Chick-fil-A, probably have already, but the reason they are in the news this week, is because of their employees coming together to bring home a 16-year-old girl that ran away from home with a 19-year-old man she met online.
Kailyn Harp left a note for her parents last week and informed them that she was running away with a guy who she met over the internet, and by that time was nearly 200 miles away from her Jacksonville home and posting photos.

Frantic, her parents searched her social media for clues and spotted the man in  a Chick-fil-A uniform, they quickly contacted their local Chick-fil-A in Jacksonville who posted the photo on a Chick-fil-A mangers instagram and within two hours got in contact with the restaurant that employes the young man which was in Winter Haven, and told him to have the girl call home. That manger then drove the girl over 200 miles back to her home , where her parents excitedly and tearfully thanked the man that re-united them with their daughter.

The police did not press charges against the 19-year-old, but said that he received "a stern talking to." No information on what the parents had to say to the daughter was provided.

Hopefully they not only spoke to her about the dangers of meeting people online, and running away, but also gave her "a stern butt whooping" and took away all her electronic devices until she proves responsible enough to handle it. Wow! Never thought I would sound like a parent, but this is something very serious that could have ended a whole lot worse if it weren't for the good hearted people at Chick-fil-A.

Some people criticized Chick-fil-A earlier last year because their President was interviewed and said he did not support gay marriage after  which many students and protestors boycotted the establishment (which didn't last long) and proceeded to get petitions, rally's and media coverage to aide in this mission. I thought this story was absolutely ludicrous when I first heard it, since Chick-fil-A has always been a christian establishment, and even then so the views of it's president don't undermine the Gay community in anyway, and as if opposing views some how can't exist without trying to stir up controversy, but I digress.
Chick-fil-A later released a statement saying:
"Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena."
Smooth Move Chick-fil-A, continue to stand on good values, and you will always thrive. This story reenforces the reason that even though I plan to pursue a life of partial pescetarinism, I will always eat Chick-fil-A, because it's chicken I can trust :) #SheNoIt

Girl Scout uses Marijuana Dispensary to sell cookies!

If you didn't know, it's Girl Scout Cookie season, and all over the nation young ladies will be working hard to hustle those cookies for incentives, which this year include; Elegant afternoon in Manhattan ending with Tea at the Plaza for 1000+ boxes and a tablet or stereo headphones for 2000+, and of course the coveted badges. While it may seem that the 4$ boxes of Carmel Coconut, Peanut Butter, Thin minted, lemony delicious goodness should sell like crack anyway. It can be hard in these streets for a Girls Scout if your trop member are working just as hard as you ( I know I was once a Girl Scout). But one Girl Scout has a sure fire way to be number one seller, and it all involved Mary Jane.
Danielle Lei of a San Francisco troop sold 117 boxes in just Two hours outside of a Green Cross Weed Dispensary which was almost 40 more than what she sold standing outside of her local grocery store. It is well known that Marijuana is associated an increased appetite for tasty snacks,  and it seem like Danielle knew exactly how to attract her audience!
While it seem that the 13-year-old would have received major criticism her troop leaders say they have no problem with her business plan and many News Stations called her "a smart cookie" for taking advantage of her demographics and Danielle's mother says that it was a good way to explain to her that Marijuana users
"Are not drugged out, and many have serious illness, and are just a little different, and that they get very hungry afterwards"
The Green Cross Dispensary where Lei made her sales in front  of posted a picture of her on their facebook which has 89k+ like on it's page using the caption:

"When the Girl Scouts set-up shop outside The Green Cross storefront yesterday, little did they know they'd need to call for back-up Girl Scout Cookies after 45 minutes! It's all about location and it's safe to say this one was a great success. We're excited to have them back again soon and will keep our members posted!

I believe that this is just the first step in not only the legalization of Marijuana, but also the decriminalization of marijuana. This story comes only a few months after the story of the little boy who went from having to take 22 pills a day to treat his epileptic seizers, to now only 1 and a half, after being treated with medical marijuana, which in my opinion qualifies as a miracle, and just weeks after the story of police handing out Doritos at Hemp Fest with marijuana laws listed right on the bag.

Hopefully Legislation in Florida and all across the nation will take head to these amazing miracles that Marijuana is bringing about, and stop pushing us these addictive narcotics that our slowing killing our insides and endorsing this propaganda that marijuana is a gateway drug. President Obama himself said that marijuana is no worse than alcohol, but I suppose it's the same people who hate marijuana who hate the president, but thats just speculation. We can only hope for the best when it comes to this movement, and it starts with Registering to vote and staying posted on everything Green!
So Good Luck to Danielle in this and all her future endeavors!

Subway Steps Up & Bans Azodicarbonamide, while the FDA endorses it.

Recently it seems that every other week  it is brought to our attention that harmful addictives and preservatives in the  most popular American foods, are linked to disparaging effects to our health and this week is no different.

Azodicarbonamide, which is also used in yoga mats and the soles for shoes is an additive that is banned almost everywhere in the world, including Europe and Australia. The chemical recently caught public attention and stirred up some ruckus with N.Y. Sen. Chuck Schumer, saying it could be filling billions and billions with toxic chemicals, and asks the Food and Drug Administration to ban the additive here in America.

Vani Hani, an activist and food blogger, is responsible for a petition with 57,000 signatures that she delivered to the cooperate offices of Subway, which lead them to remove this “bread conditioner” from their foods. She is also the person behind Kraft removing yellow dyes from it’s kids targeted Mac and Cheese.

While it seems feasible that other companies would follow in the footsteps of Subway, the FDA and McDonalds consider azosicarbonamide to be a safe chemical. McDonalds bread is riddled with the plastic chemical, which has been known to cause respiratory problems, as well as asthma. But the fast food company argues that they review their menu items and ingredients consistently and are in line with all FDA regulations.

The director of risk analysis for the National Center for Public Policy Research says that the FDA scientist should be trusted over a blogger and criticizes her for calling herself “The Food Babe.”

The National Center for Public Policy Research also promotes the message that “Black History Month Means Good Accomplishments... Overshadowed by Negativity" and should be renamed American History Month, and focus less on the segregation, Jim Crow and the Civil Rights Era.

Food Regulation in my opinion is a very serious issue, that can only be dealt with if the American people stop blindly consuming foods that are completely unnatural, and start looking at the ingredients, and demanding that regulations be tightened, or at least that the proper knowledge of these so called safe ingredients be further investigated and the findings clearly reported on.
It’s no question that people lived longer and had less health problems, before you could pop a frozen dinner in the microwave or eat a burger that is marketed on quantity and time efficiency rather than quality and nutrients, or that people in other countries who consume home grown and less processed food have a higher life expectancy than the average non-smoking American, but I guess living longer doesn’t matter much anymore.

It would be nice to think that the government cares about food regulation, and would never put anything in foods that would harm us, but in reality money is all that matters. These additives are used to preserve food for longer amounts of time, make the food look, and taste better, not in the concern of the effects on the human body, but in concern with cutting cost.

While representative from the National Center for Public policy research says what Subway did is, “purely public relations” and an aim to promote itself as a healthy fast food company, I applaud Subway for taking these steps to do what 57,000 people thought would be beneficial to their health, and if it takes a Food Babe to make a call to action, it’s still a lot more than I can say for our federal government.
